We seem to all be suffering a common problem these days, WHERE DID OUR LIVES GO? Our brains seem to still be 18, but our bodies are talking a different language. Sarah Orne Jewett puts it much more eloquently than do I:

“Neither of my companions was troubled by her burden of years. I hoped in my heart that I might be like them as I lived on into age, and then smiled to think that I too was no longer very young. So we always keep the same hearts, though our outer framework fails and shows the touch of time.”

HOW MUCH DO RESTAURANTS INFLUENCE OUR MEMORIES?? CHECK THIS OUT

A big thank you to Polly Burtch for sending me this link this afternoon, on a day when I am working at my desk, and began by working on finding a KHS65 classmate.  Talk about nostalgia.  Here is the main one we Kirkwoodians may well remember, I sure do!  I lived in Des Peres 11th and 12th grade and after for awhile, so passed by Lindbergh & Manchester, and went to that Parkmoor often.  When the Clayton and Big Bend one was torn down, I lived just about maybe 1/2 mile or so west of it - I remember the rubble well!  As I looked at the photo of the interior of 'our' Parkmoor so many memories rushed in...I know they will for many of you too...

But there is more - go to www.losttables.com for a huge menu of pictures of closed restaurants.  The memories of my parents, my boyfriends, life events, friends, and so much more come rushing back!  I told Polly I will likely count how many are shown, then how many bring back memories...I'll bet it's a large percentage, but I suppose maybe that's cuz I'm so old!  We're NOT going to have a contest of who actually ate at the most, that misses the point, the memories are....

THANK YOU POLLY!  A great way to think about our history!
